ITC's New Aerospace
Tooling Takes Off
Renowned for its expertise in providing specialist cutting tool
solutions to the aerospace industry, ITC of Tamworth has launched
its new 4081 series of end mills. This new addition to the Cyber
Series of cutting tools has been specifically developed to deliver
high performance machining of aerospace materials.
The 4081 series is an AlTin coated four flute solid carbide
end mill with a harmonic flute geometry that provides excellent
swarf evacuation. The single, square end straight shank 4081
series with right hand helix has a radical unequal flute spacing
that is the result of extensive research and development.
As a result of this extensive development, ITC has launched
a cutter that delivers exceptional stability and metal removal
rates, whilst the flute spacing of the 4081 series significantly
reduces machining noise by eliminating the harmonic effect.
Available with or without corner radius, this standard length
centre cutting 4081 series can efficiently machine a wide variety
of difficult to cut steels and aerospace alloys. The 4081 series
is available in a diameter range from 3 to 32mm with a length
of cut ranging from 9 to 60mm. This addition to the Cyber Series
has an overall length from 58 to 160mm with either a square
end or a radius up to 4mm dependant upon the selected diameter.
A feature of particular importance is that the 4081 series is
longer than competitor products both in overall and flute length,
giving more flexibility i.e. length is slightly longer than
standard.
The cutting tools are manufactured at ITC's state of the art
grinding shop in Tamworth. Company Director Peter Graves believes
the facility is probably the best equipped in the UK. ITC operates
a workshop that boasts a host of new CNC grinding machines.
With grinding machines from the acknowledged World leaders such
as Walter, Schneeberger, Deckel, Rollomatic, and Anca - it's
difficult to argue!!
ITC has invested in computerised optical measuring equipment
to maintain the high standards the company is renowned for and
its newly installed centralised oil filtration system guarantees
that tool grinding takes place under optimum conditions in clean
oil to ensure repetitive accuracy.
This impressive CNC manufacturing facility provides the capability
to modify tooling to specific requirements with short lead times.
